How to Update Config Mgr
Like all software, it’s important to keep Config Mgr up to date! If you just finished setting up your lab, this is the first task you should complete! Keep reading to learn how to quickly update your test environment.Â
Let’s get started!
Step 1:
First, launch your Config Mgr console and select the “Administration” tab in the bottom left of the window
Step 2:
Then choose “Updates and Servicing” in the top left
Step 3:
Next, click on “Check for updates Updates” to search for available updates
Step 4:
If the most recent version hasn’t already started downloading, right click and choose “Download”
Step 5:
If you needed to begin the download, you can monitor the status of the download by clicking “Show Status” in the bottom right of your console
Step 6:
When you see the state status for the update package change to “Ready to Install”, right click it and select “Install Update Pack” to launch the Configuration Manager Updates Wizard
Step 7:
Check the box for “Ignore any prerequisite check warnings and install this update regardless of missing requirements”
Step 8:
Click next until the License Terms, check the box, and select next
Step 9:
If you want to experiment with Azure co-management, feel free to sign in and select configure the “Cloud attach” option, but for my test environment… I’m just going to play with Config Mgr for now… so I’ve unchecked the options for “Enable Microsoft Endpoint Manager Admin Center” and “Enable automatic client enrollment for co-management” and then I’ll click next to continue… (You can set co-management later, don’t worry!)
Step 9:
Click next until the Wizard completes successfully.
Step 10:
Go back to Administration > Updates and Servicing and click to highlight the update and then select “Show Status” in the bottom right of the window
Step 11:
Right click the package and select “Show Status” to monitor the installation progress… click “Refresh” in the top right for updates…
Step 12:
When the wizard completes, close your Config Mgr console, and relaunch it
Step 13:
You will most likely see a prompt upon relaunching the console to update the console, please click OK to update…
Way to go! Your test lab is now up to date. 🙂
